Fancy Feathers and more was created by Scott and Kim Mackey in 1994. Our
primary interest has always been in breeding show-quality cockatiels with
special interest in the rare mutations.
We have a closed aviary and all newly acquired birds are quarantined and
tested for diseases (Polyoma, Beak & Feather, and Psitaccosis).
Extra care and attention is also given to the health of all of our baby
birds by
vaccinating them against the Polyoma virus.
In October 2005, one of our rare-mutation cockatiels, an Emerald hen, became our
first Bred and Banded cockatiel to become a Grand Champion. She is
only the fourth rare in NCS history to reach this milestone.
We also have five other Bred and Banded Champions. As a result of this great accomplishment, Scott has become an NCS Panel Judge.
